Pastor Jeff Heim
Born and bred and born again Downriver, Jeff is proud to Pastor Friendship Baptist Church. His childhood home is 700 yards as the crow flies from Fbc. Though Christ has taken him from being a tattoo artist, sculptor, to the Deep South, around the world, and back again, Jeff and his unbelievable wife Kimberly are glad to have never made it very far from home. They and their four children live in Wyandotte.
God has uniquely gifted Pastor Jeff with an ability to communicate deep solid biblical truth with common language, storytelling, and enough pop cultural references to fill a yellow submarine. He is privileged to serve as our Lead Pastor.
Jeff graduated from William Tyndale College with the extremely lucrative degree of Bachelor of Arts in Christian Thought. He went on to earn a Masters of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tennessee and is about to finish a second Masters in Storytelling from East Tennessee State University (Yeah, I know . . . a Masters in Storytelling? Yes, you can do that! Who knew?)
Because his kids are Homeschoolers and because he is nuts, Jeff continues to learn about all kinds of stuff: worm farming, para-planes, bubble tea, E.E. Cummings, cigar box guitars, the Brothers K, solar chargers for cell phones, and the like.
Of all of his kids, his daughter Jasper is his favorite. Sam is too. Except for Sophia and Solomon, he likes them most of all, probably.
Despite the yellow submarine reference above, Jeff hates the Beatles and his favorite movie is Dead Poets’ Society. Above all else, by a landslide, Pastor Jeff loves Jesus. He likes Jesus more than everyone else in the whole world.
